Query Language

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

alarm gustav

finds documents containing 'alarm' or 'gustav''

alarm or gustav

same as above

alarm and gustav

finds documents containing both 'alarm' and 'gustav'

alarm not gustav

finds documents containing 'information' but not 'retrieval'

(alarm not gustav) and Mantle

finds documents containing 'Mantle', plus 'alarm' but not 'gustav'

vienna*

finds documents containing words starting with 'vienna'
