Welcome to
Mike's Clocks, a site for amateur Clock
Repairing and collecting.
I am
not a professional Horologist, and everything I've
learned about clock repair has come from reading books
and actual hands on work. When I first started, I knew
less than nothing about clocks and their workings, and I
didn't know of the vast array of clocks out there.
I am fortunate to have a large number of clocks I can
work on. These clocks were all in rough condition and
requiring a lot of work to get back into running
condition. Therefore I will use my own clocks to
illustrate what works, as well as what doesn't
work.
This
site serves two purposes, as I want to show what an
untrained hobbyist, with the bare minimum of tools can
accomplish in clock repair, from cleaning the movement
to case repair.
The other reason for this site is that I simply like
to show off.
So come in, click around and maybe learn something
about clocks, how they work and watch me make lots of
mistakes in clock repair!
